Introduction
Established in 2004, IJJSS is the premier event in the collaboration between Universitas Indonesia and Chiba University. The first IJJSS was held in 2004 at Chiba University, Japan. Further, this symposium was expanded to collaborate Chiba University and nine Indonesian sister Universities (UI, IPB, ITB, Unpad, UGM, Undip, ITS, Unud and Unhas). Now Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) is the host for The 6th IJJSS that will be held on 28-30 October 2014. This symposium will provide a venue to share and discuss various issues and developments in the multi-field of recent scientific and technology. We hope your active participations could promote research and academic exchange between Japan and Indonesia. The participations of industries of both countries are also welcome to introduce the new technologies and products.

The main purposes of this symposium are to provide a meeting that will enforce progress, stimulate growth and advance the state of knowledge between students and researchers from Indonesia and Japan, as well as those from countries around the world. Also this event provides a forum for discussion of new ideas, research, development and applications, including techniques and method to stimulate and inspired pioneering works.

Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) is the oldest and the largest state university in Indonesia. It was founded on December 19, 1949 and currently has 18 faculties, 69 undergraduate programs, 24 diploma programs and a Graduate School. Since October 2013, the university has taken a new status as a Public University legal entity. The University is located in The Special Region of Yogyakarta, one of the smallest provinces in the country, which has been widely known as the center of Javanese culture as well as the center of learning. It has 3,200,000 inhabitants, 511,000 of whom reside in the city of Yogyakarta. The Special Region of Yogyakarta focuses its development on three inseparable pillars: education, culture, and tourism.

The organizers invite ideas for the development of themes within any aspect of broad topic which has been a focus of collaboration between Indonesia and Japan. Specific themes and sessions will be announced in the second circular. Authors are invited to present their work as a talk or poster presentation. Instructions for the preparation and submission of abstracts will be included in the second circular, and available on the website. A maximum of 3 contemporaneous sessions will be run at the same time. The organizers will place particular emphasis on providing prominent space and time within the conference schedule for the poster presentations.
